Heard from a mate of mine in the Gym this morning and then from a colleague at work, that Sale Sharks are moving from Stockport to Leigh Sports Village to share the stadium, anyone heard anything?

From next year, with Kennedy investing in LRLFC this year and possible dual players from May 2010 was a rumour I heard in the Vets.

Does some work not have to done to achieve that crowd. I seem to remember that some extra barriers were needed in the north stand for that amount. May be wrong.

Leigh Sports Village will host the Gillette Fusion International between England and France on Saturday June 12 (5.45pm), a date which represents a significant day in the history of international Rugby League.

The match against a resurgent French team will be the first full international staged at the 10,000-capacity venue and marks the debut for the new England coach as he looks to build on his predecessor’s achievement in reaching the 2009 Gillette Four Nations Final.

My understanding is that the current capacity is 10000 but that the stadium can be configured to hold 12500 (ish). That would require a little reconfigurement and probably a safety licensing revisit.

The extra barriers have already been installed in the North stand. If everyone remembers the beginning of last season you couldn't use the back of the North stand (it was taped off) as all the barriers were not installed. The safety cert was given at this point. The extra barriers were subsequently installed but another safety cert was not applied for. Hence a 12700 capacity but a 10000 safety cert.
